What are Managed Returns?

Managed Returns

Managed Returns refers to a process where authorized pickup requests are initiated for customers when they need to return items to Kaplan.

Here is a breakdown of the process:

  1. Request Authorization: An Authorized Request form is completed and sent to Traffic Services.
  2. Bill of Lading (BOL): Traffic Services issues a Bill of Lading (BOL) and sends it to the customer.
  3. Pickup Authorization: The customer presents the BOL to the driver when they arrive, authorizing the pickup.
  4. Reasons for Return: Items may be returned for various reasons such as wrong items received, customer over-ordered items, or a return requested by the Returns Department when a claim for damages is too late to file.
  5. LTL Carriers: Less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers are used for managed returns as it is often more cost-effective than sending return labels.
  6. Tracking: The Managed Return report is used to track returns to Kaplan.
  7. The report should be viewed frequently to ensure prompt returns.
